Lhoist UK Ltd Lhoist UK produces the purest lime available in the UK and delivers high quality lime based products to both UK and international customers. We have been working for Lhoist for about two years and we are pleased that they continue to trust Woodgrow to solve their difficult landscaping challenges. We were originally contacted to supply and plant a mature Ash tree, variety Altena. This was subsequently named the 'Safety Tree' and was planted to celebrate their manufacturing plant's exceptional safety record. Lhoist UK Ltd were seeking to improve the appearance of the area around their offices with landscaping. The soil is very shallow, only 100mm deep with limestone beneath, which presented us with a challenge. As with the trees we've planted, any shrubs must be able to withstand a high pH environment. Added to this, the site is located near Buxton in Derbyshire, which has the highest elevation of any market town in Britain (1000ft) so all the shrubs need to be very hardy. We solved this by overlaying the existing soil with 100mm of screened topsoil and then planting with hardy, lime tolerant shrubs such as Berberis, Cotoneaster, Elaeagnus, Euonymus and Mahonia. Lhoist are delighted with the outcome.  
Nestle UK Ltd Nestle UK Ltd were looking to screen off a new factory at Tutbury, near Burton on Trent. Our remit was to provide screening for nearby homes, whilst encouraging wildlife to inhabit the area. We planted a 100m bund with large deciduous trees and Pines. We started the work in March 2007, taking us about three weeks to complete. Before we'd even finished the work, birds were coming into the area and started building nests in the Pines and Western Hemlocks which delighted our client. We have an on-going maintenance contract to look after the trees we planted, thus providing Nestle with a complete solution to their factory screening issue.  
University of London, Goldsmiths College As suppliers of trees and plants to the University of London's Goldsmiths College for a number of years, they asked us if we could lay around 1500m2 of turf and plant several hundred groundcover plants on a bank in preparation for a forthcoming ceremony. However, time was of the essence; we had to be able to complete the work within 10 days, including all the preparation work, irrigation and tidying. One of the biggest challenges were the logistics of having this much turf and hundreds of plants delivered to one of the busiest areas of south London. Thanks to a great job by our turf supplier and our dedicated staff, the work was successfully completed ahead of schedule.  
 Mercia Marina in Willington, near Derby, is situated on the Trent & Mersey Canal and is one of the largest inland marinas in the UK. We were asked to by the main contractor, Land & Water Services Ltd, to install almost 2km of footpaths and numerous flights of steps to link up the various jetties. Because of the very wet summer we had last year, the work was very difficult. But despite this the project was completed to a high standard, to the delight of the client.
